“Reports of my spirit of adventure have been greatly exaggerated.”
His eyes darkened, and a smile slowly spread across his face. “You’re beginning to sound like a challenge,” he warned.

Captain’s Choice is a fanfic made of supporting stories that take place in and around The Memory Keeper series. In this scene, Killian has just accidentally learned that Emma is carrying his child, and while Emma slumbers peacefully, he contemplates just what that means to him . . .
Holy God.
He took a moment just to let it all sink in. He’d spent so long not worrying about the possibility of ever impregnating anyone, that it hadn’t even occurred to him. There had been so many women – surely after all this time they numbered in the hundreds at the very least. A disjointed smattering of names and faces and body parts – some more memorable than others and very few worth a return visit.
Yet in all that tomcatting he’d been careful. The last thing he ever wanted was a bastard child of his out there somewhere, growing up without a father. He’d sought out a witch and paid for a spell long ago that protected him from any such eventuality. Once it took hold he would be unable to get anyone with child – unless he truly wanted to.
And now he sat, flabbergasted by the fact that he must’ve truly wanted to, with Emma. Continue reading

In my Once Upon A Time Fanfic, These Dreams, Emma gets trapped in the dreamscape, falling in and out of the dreams of the residents of Storybrooke, as well as her own dreams, too. Killian goes under a sleeping curse so that he can rescue her, but in every dream scenario, one of them has to be reminded of who they are. In this chapter, Killian finds Emma – and oh, is this unexpected . . .
“Your client is ready in room six,” the young woman said to Killian, sticking her head around the door frame.
Killian took a moment to get his bearings. He gave the girl a nod of acknowledgement, not having the foggiest idea as to what he should be doing with that information. He looked down at his attire for clues, but didn’t get much. He was wearing black jeans and a black tee shirt, with some sort of logo on the front of it over the left breast pocket.
He reached into his pocket, pulling out the compass – which seemed, happily, to travel with him wherever he went – and checked it. The needle directed him down the hallway, right to room six. He grasped the doorknob and stepped inside, closing the door behind him.
He was completely unprepared for the sight that awaited him. A woman lay face-down on a low table, completely unclothed but for a sheet, artfully draped across her shapely bum and nothing else. That was startling enough, but he knew the line of that neck and the set of those shoulders anywhere.
“Emma?”
She raised a non-committal hand. “Come on in,” she said, her voice muffled. “I’m ready to go.”

“That I thought you loved me?” His lip curled into a sneer. “Nobody could love me.”

Yes! I finished the latest draft of EARTHSINGER and I am going to cautiously say this will be out by Easter! Finally!! And then I’ve got to find time to carve out Firesinger around my next YA project, but that should go faster since it’s the culmination of the series. I hope.
Thanks so much for being patient, you guys. Seriously. Juggling all this writing, two kids, and a full time job is crazy making a lot of the time, and the YA stuff is going to have to take priority since it’s being “Big 5” published.
I really do appreciate the way you’ve all stuck with me. My readers are the best! Watch for an announcement next week about EARTHSINGER!

I’ve had a serious bout of insomnia for nearly two weeks now, and a few nights ago I decided I was done lying there staring at the wall and thinking about how I needed to go back to sleep, I’d get up and write.
It’s been very oddly productive. I’m getting tons done. I’m sleep-deprived as hell and nodding off at my desk around 3pm, but by God, I’m getting writing done. Continue reading
