Her name is Cecy, and she’s got a very special gift.

She’s also going to introduce you to a very interesting group of people who call themselves the “Twixters.” Twixters live among us, and are so named because they’re the direct product of a human who has a dalliance with one of the powerful race of “Elemental” magical people who help control the Earth, Air, Fire and Water….and mankind’s destiny, while they’re at it.

Cecy is part Air Elemental, and even a little more unique than that amongst the Twixters (can’t tell you her secret – that would be a spoiler!). Brad sees her in action and finds himself both confused and intrigued by this wispy slip of a woman. He soon gets caught up, not just in Cecy, but in a whole world he never knew existed, and together he and Cecy find themselves a part of a larger, more powerful destiny.

So get ready for novel one of the Elemental Destiny Series:

Inspiration Is A Beautiful And Frightening Thing #amwriting #writing

My latest novel series (The Elemental Novels) will begin with the element of Air. This first book actually began as a short horror story I wrote for a writing contest, believe it or not. I wanted to take an element of that story and give the ability to my protagonist, but not to be used in a horrible or horrific way. The problem was, I was having trouble visualizing this girl in my mind (partly because the original bearer of the ability was an older gentleman in my short story), and without knowing my girl, I can’t know the kind of man who would match her. Plotting Out The Elemental Novels…Writing An Epic Is Hard Work #amwriting #amwritingromance #amwritingfantasy

elements

So, I’ve been hard at work literally charting and mapping out The Elemental Novels, my next series. Unlike the Seeder Saga, I’m really working hard to be proactive with these plotlines.

With Seeder, it started off as one story that I hadn’t planned to write a sequel to (Sky Woman – which is free on Fridays this month for Kindle…check it out!), and morphed into a trilogy. And believe me, finding little things to tie back to from later books was a serious exercise in creativity.

But it ain’t nothin’ compared to this, honey child.

I started with an Excel spreadsheet with timelines that morphed into a Venn diagram of sorts that became a big flowchart with cross-references and highlighted supernatural abilities (based on their affinities for earth, air, fire and water) as well as critical plot points galore. It’s been crazy! And cool! But mostly crazy so far. It’ll get cooler once I get them all talking to each other. And sexing each other up. You know how I write.

Now I’m ready to pull together the scene pieces and snippets of dialogue I’ve jotted down here and there for book one, and get to fleshing it out. I’m hoping to have this one out by the end of the summer, and book two out by the end of the year (maybe sooner on that one…the guy from book two is seriously haunting my dark and dirty fantasies…).

Watch here for teases as I hash this one out. Like I said…it’s going to be epic.

So Here’s What I’m Working On Next…The Elemental Series

elements

I’m in final edits for Someday In Dublin, which means the greater majority of that book is in the can. Whew! And now I can really begin hammering out the next project – The Elemental Destiny Series.

This is going to be a four part work – four individual full-length novels with protagonists based on their affinity for one of the four elements: Earth, Air, Fire and Water. They won’t be releasing in that order – it’s more like Air, Water, Earth and Fire, but you get the gist of it.

Each of these characters lives partly in the supernatural world, though they are very firmly rooted in present-day earth. I’ve been kicking this one around for a good, long while, outlining and reworking the outline and fleshing it out.

One of my biggest complaints about The Seeder Saga (and I can’t help but think it was an issue for the readers) is that Books 1 & 2 are essentially stand-alone books, up until their final chapters. That’s mainly because when I wrote the first one, I hadn’t really planned for a trilogy, and then I was halfway into book two and could only hint at the plot of book three by introducing you to its hero in a passing manner.

Everything comes together in book three, with a lot of great callbacks and visits to our friends in books one and two, but they don’t really have the cohesive feel I’d like out of a series.

This one will have that, and an intricately woven plot that centers around a series of mysteries that reveal themselves through the course of the series, culminating in life-or-death decisions that will affect the entire human race.

This one is going to take a while to churn out, but it’ll be worth it, I promise. In the meantime, you’ll have Somewhere In Dublin, and I’ll toss a few more novellas your way to keep your blood pumping, I promise.

Off to work I go!
