FanFic Friday: Here’s An Excerpt From “Friendly Shores”

?????????????

Once again, it’s FanFic Friday as we barrel into the weekend, excited as hell that Once Upon A Time is back of hiatus. Hallelujah!!

And in celebration of that, let’s drop in on Killian and Emma via my fanfic “Friendly Shores.” In Friendly Shores, something has turned the world upside down, and everyone has been thrown into a new persona. In this scene, we have flirtatious Pirate Emma (a.k.a. “The Black Swan”) and  Killian in disguise as a prince. He’s dodging Emma’s advances because he’s still very much himself and knows that when Emma gets her real memories restored, she’ll kill him if he’s taken advantage. It makes for some fun, sexy, stressful moments….like this one.

How Far Is Too Far When You’re Talking About Sex?

Couple sexy passion woman devotion

I like to write stories where the characters do what any hot-blooded, very attracted people would do when thrown into close proximity to each other.

They have sex.

They don’t only have sex, and sometimes, they almost or nearly have sex a few times before they actually have sex and then something might drive them away from each other and when they find their way back together…guess what? Yep. They have sex.

And while writing these sexy people and their sexy situations, of course, some personal bias comes in. Continue reading

Ready For Some More Tidbits? Here’s A Scene From Rain In The Moonlight

Rain in the MoonlightCov

Rain In The Moonlight is the second book of the Seeder Saga, and the lead characters were so incredibly intense to write. Their chemistry and particular their backstories are incredible, and the book takes a couple of unexpected turns before they work out whatever it is between them.

In this scene, we see Rain trying to reason with Ajan, who has been sent to capture the leader of the River Valley. He ends up captured himself, but Rain realizes soon enough that his skills could come in handy in their battle against the encroaching Mountain city. Now she has to convince him to work with her, instead of against her. Continue reading

Falling In Love With Your Characters

dub2_Cov

I am so in love with Michael.

He’s the man from Someday In Dublin, and he’s very devil-may-care and impulsive and crazy fun. I could write about Michael, talk like Michael and let Michael get naked and do all sorts of wild and exciting things to me all day long.

The problem is, the story isn’t just about Michael. The story is about Amy, too. Continue reading

It’s Monday, Time To Let Off A Little…Steam! Here’s Another Excerpt From “Sky Woman”

SkyWoman Rain in the MoonlightCov Changeling

You know how I loooove my steam. Today, I’m giving you another tiny taste of “Sky Woman,” the first novel of my Seeder Series.

Miri is an earth girl who finds herself waking up on another planet, and soon in the care of three gorgeous brothers, all hell-bent on wooing her. Miri has some hard choices to make about things that make her question the very nature of love and desire. It’s a hot, hot book and I had a wonderful time writing it. Here’s a taste. Fanfic Friday: Today I’m Teasing Out “Nemesis” – Where Papa Killian Tells The Kids A Bedtime Story

?????????????

I’ve decided to tease out my fanfics on Friday (barring any new book announcements, of course). Today, I’ll give you a taste of a story I wrote as part of my Memory Keeper Series of Fanfiction for Once Upon A Time.

In this story, we see Killian Jones telling his children Meriel (age 8) and Finn (age 6) a rather grisly bedtime story, much to the consternation of their mother, Emma… Continue reading

And Now I’ve Got Myself A Dilemma

dub2_Cov

I’m working on my next couple of books (because I write on multiple things at the same time, and Someday In Dublin is giving me a challenge.

I have a terrific story, don’t get me wrong. A wonderful story with romance and a great, poignant hook, and yes, the main characters are most certainly getting physical, but… Continue reading

Oh, The Ideas I Get In My Head

SkyWoman Rain in the MoonlightCov Changeling

As I’ve mentioned before, I’m busy working on more than one project (which is usual for me) and this is where I get into trouble.

You see, I get the ideas. I get them in spades. Lavish, fantastical, remarkable, outlandish ideas. And my mind wants to follow them, revel in them, weave the tales in and around these incredible characters and I can see their every nuance and mannerism and I know what makes them tick and what draws them to each other.

I just don’t want to write an entire plot, in particular.

And that’s my problem. I see amazing scenes and great dramatic or hilarious moments, but weaving them all together into a cohesive plot…well, that’s where the discipline comes in.

I’m not much on discipline.

So anyway, I’m working on it. I really am.

I’m about a third of the way through (word-count-wise) on Someday in Dublin, and I’ve outlined 3 of the 4 books of my next fantasy series. In addition to that, I’ve gotten halfway through a non-fiction book (I write under another name, as well) and started on a second book in a YA series I’m working on. Plus I have to turn in two magazine articles this week.

The creative fountain floweth over, but the writer wants to play instead of work.

So enough blogging, Britt. Back to the grindstone…

So, I’m Playing Around With My Blog Template (As You Can See)

Please excuse the way the blog is going to look for a while. I’m playing around with various templates, trying to figure out what works best for me and if it’s worth it to me to pay the upgrade and get a more customized look. It’s not like I have thousands of followers here – it’s more a touchplace where I can put my book, fanfic and social media links and send people to. I’ll have to ruminate on that.

On an entirely unrelated note…I was hugely productive this weekend. From Friday night through to today, I’ve written over 9600 words!! And mostly good ones! Of course, I had a power outage for a good chunk of the weekend with nothing to do but read or write, and that certainly helped.

And the cold made me wish I was cuddling. The thought of cuddling made me wish I was doing a whole lot more than cuddling and before I knew it, I had a couple more chapters of my next book completed. God help me if I land a boyfriend anytime soon. I’m honestly afraid I’ll lose my mojo.

Maybe I’d just better make sure he’s an adventurous sort (she says, waggling her eyebrows).

In the meantime, the power’s back on and I’m off work for President’s Day, so I’ll keep on writing as long as the muse takes me there.

Changeling

Just a reminder that Changeling is now out and already has a great review – please feel free to add more reviews on Amazon, Smashwords or GoodReads – I can really use them!

Stay warm!
