Music To My Ears: “My Hairdresser Reads All Your Stuff!” #amwriting #romance

I was chatting with an old friend from high school over the weekend, and she mentioned that she just bought a copy of Windsinger and couldn’t wait to read it. I thanked her, of course, and she dropped another bit of happy into my lap:

“My hairdresser reads all your stuff!” she said. Apparently, she’d mentioned to the girl that I write romance (among other things) and the girl looked me up, and has bought everything I’ve ever written. She especially loved The Seeder Saga and was eagerly awaiting the first book of the Elemental Destinies.

So there you have it. A hairdresser in a very small town in the desert southwest reads me. And I couldn’t be happier.

Readers, I love you. I don’t remember to say that often enough, but really, I do. It’s not really about the money – because, let’s face it, I’m self-pubbed and while I do all right, I’m not laying around on my yacht eating caviar as I tap away at my keyboard, here.

The fact is, I write stories I love, and it’s just so incredibly validating when one of you loves them, too. So thank you. Really. From the bottom of my hopeless romantic heart.

Thank you for reading, thank you for buying, thank you for believing in me.

The Seeder Saga Is Coming To Print! And Here’s An Excerpt!

My Sci-Fi Romance Trilogy, The Seeder Saga is the story of three women on three different planets who are bound by a common thread: all of them have come in contact with a “Seeder” – someone who is part of a galactic corps who “seeds” and transplants humans all over the galaxy.

In book two, Rain In The Moonlight, we begin to uncover a plot that affects humanity all across the galaxy, a plot that revolves around a very special spore grown only on Rain’s home planet. She and the people of the River Valley have been sabotaging the machines that have been harvesting the spores from the river, and Ajan is a hired hunter from another planet who’s been commissioned to find and capture the leader of the River Valley people.

He and Rain strike a bargain, based in part on her need to enlist him in their cause, his need to get more information about her people, and their very healthy attraction for each other. Ajan agrees to help, if she agrees to share his bed. It seems a straightforward bargain, but they both end up with more than they bargained for. In this scene, Rain is at a welcome celebration held for Ajan, fully aware that when the party is over, she’s expected to fulfill her end of the bargain… Continue reading

Let’s Start At The Very Beginning – If You Can Figure Out How To Start #amwriting #writing

I need to write a book. I have a partial outline. I have an overall outline for the entire series. I know where I need this book to end up and mostly where it’s going.

I just can’t seem to begin the damn thing.

One of the key things you really need to do as a writer is hook your readers from the start. I love a book with a great opening – and even better, a book that grabs me with the opening sentence. You’ve got to pique their interest. You’ve got to grab them and not let them go – particularly in this age of the Amazon 10% free sample read. You’d better get them sucked in and rolling, or you’re not going to sell that book.

Book Excerpt Tuesday: Sky Woman Brings The Steam

In my book, Sky Woman, Miranda “Miri” Reynolds finds herself suddenly on another planet, being wooed hard by a trio of brothers who want her for their own. Luckily, she’s found another transplant, a guy by the name of Avi, who’s schooling her in language and culture but isn’t about to get between the brothers and their goal… Continue reading

In Honor Of The New Seeder Complete Edition Release – Here’s An Excerpt From “Changeling” #FridayReads

In the third book of The Seeder Saga, Changeling, Lizzie finds herself kidnapped by a handsome alien by the name of Indar. Indar is a Seeder, a group of people responsible for “seeding” mankind onto various planets throughout the galaxy. He took Lizzie away from Earth for her own good, but she’s not seeing it that way yet.

In this scene, Indar’s getting in his regular workout aboard the ship, and invites Lizzie to join him…. Continue reading

So You’ve Started A New Series….What Can We Expect?

EDlogoWindsinger is finally out (print and electronic), and of course, this is the grand opening of my new series, The Elemental Destinies. In book one, you meet most of the players for the four book series – with one exception.

I’ve had a few of you ask me who’s going to end up with who, and that’s a question I don’t mind answering. Book two is already set for our Seasinger, Kai – he’s got a prominent part in book one, as does our Earthsinger, Manni. There’s a great rapport between the two of them because Kai is such a straight-laced Alpha male and Manni is a sarcastic, ballsy chick who doesn’t easily put up with guys like that. They also have a bit of history that has yet to be told.

Bookus Interruptus: The Art Of Balancing Your Invading Ideas #Mondayblogs #amwriting

I’ve got a lot on my plate right now.

In addition to a tradtionally published book that I’m knee-deep in edits for, I have a self-pub’d series that I just released book one for and I really need to flesh out an outline for book two.

Then there’s another book behind the one I got the contract for that my editors are going to be wanting some direction on. Then, into all this madness strolls another idea.

And damn, but it’s a good one. I can feel my brain longing to follow this idea down a dark, alley, willing to see where it’s going to lead us. My breath coming in little pants of excitement as I wonder if this one is going to terrify me, or excite me, or leave me feeling hollow inside. Continue reading
